Late Winter Snow in Stanley Bridge

A trail through the woods in Stanley Bridge resembled a winter wonderland on April 25 after a heavy late season snowfall, which arrived more than a month after the official start of spring. Many winter weary Islanders must be wondering if the snow will ever disappear.

Preparing for Renovations

On April 17 members of the Stanley Bridge Memorial Society spent several hours clearing out damaged and surplus items from the former Stanley Bridge United Church to prepare the building for extensive renovations, which include work necessary to host a regular farmer’s market, beginning in July. Many of the items were taken by truck to the nearby Waste Watch recycling facility for disposal.

Pancake Breakfast – May 3 at Stanley Bridge WI Hall

The Stanley Bridge Memorial Society is holding a pancake breakfast at the Stanley Bridge WI Hall, from 7:30 am to 10 am, Saturday, May 3. Tickets $8 for adults, $5 for kids under 10. Menu items include pancakes, baked beans, cheese, fruit, jam, cinnamon rolls, juice, tea and coffee. Proceeds supporting the Stanley Bridge Centre Building Fund. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Cavendish Beach Ice

This was the view from the Cavendish beach lookout off Gulf Shore Road on the afternoon of April 6. An impenetrable barrier of ice could be seen far into the horizon.
